Addressing Chronic Eye Pain and Sinus Congestion with coMra Therapy

In this case study, a practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese medicine based in Eugene, Oregon, shares their experience using the Delta 905 laser to treat a patient suffering from chronic eye pain, tension, and seasonal sinus congestion. Patient Presentation

The patient presented with a long history of left eye pain and tension, characterized by a persistent "pulling" sensation and a "frozen" feeling. She reported that her eyes struggled to track together, with the left eye exhibiting a tendency to pull outward. The pain, localized in the temple area and above the eye, typically registered as a 3 to 4 on a 0 to 10 scale. Notably, the patient observed that this tension and the associated frozen sensation were significantly exacerbated by emotional states, such as anxiety or anger. Additionally, the patient suffered from chronic sinus congestion due to spring pollen allergies, which was the primary reason for her initial acupuncture consultations.

Clinical Treatment Approach

The practitioner treated the patient once per week over the course of four sessions.

* First Treatment: The initial session focused exclusively on acupuncture to address the allergies, emotional state, and local tension around the left eye. The patient’s pain level remained at a 3 to 4. * Second Treatment: The practitioner introduced the Delta 905 laser alongside acupuncture. Following this session, the patient reported that the tightness had diminished, the frozen sensation had resolved, and her sinus pressure had eased, though the sinus issues later returned. The laser was applied directly to points around the eye, the temple, and the area above the eye, as well as the area underneath the eye. * Third Treatment: The practitioner incorporated the Universal 3 (Head) protocol in addition to the local laser application. Acupuncture was used primarily for the sinus congestion, with targeted needles placed near the eye following the laser treatment. By the end of this session, the patient reported that the pain and tightness were further reduced, the frozen feeling was completely absent, and her pain level had dropped to a 1 to 2, with periods where she felt no pain at all. * Fourth Treatment: The combination of acupuncture and the Delta 905 laser was continued.

Results and Observations

By the conclusion of the fourth treatment, the patient reported a definitive improvement in both the tension and the physical openness of her left eye, which had previously appeared smaller than the right.

The practitioner credits the Delta 905 laser with approximately 75% of the improvement regarding the eye pain. The patient expressed high satisfaction with the results, noting that the treatments have been highly effective. The practitioner continues to see the patient on a weekly basis to manage her sinus congestion and to monitor further improvements in her overall ocular health.
