Summary: The text discusses the complexities and contradictions in research regarding low-level laser therapy and its effects on inflammation and the immune system. It highlights the debate surrounding whether light therapy reduces or enhances inflammation, and the challenges in understanding the mechanisms behind these effects. The text also criticizes the reductionist approach of modern clinical research, which often ignores the body's intelligence and self-healing capabilities.
And then when we transition to, let's say, clinical research with low-level laser therapy with the phototherapies, things get even more complicated. For modern decade, there is such a very heated debate. The interaction between low-level laser therapy and immunity. I put here only two papers just to give you a taste of contradiction. So on one hand, there is a review paper by Björndahl. He concludes that low-level laser reduces inflammation significantly and is equally effective as NSAIDs. And there's lots of papers, I mean, literally dozens of papers that show how low-level laser therapy reduces inflammatory markers, let's say, in in multiple sclerosis and in all these chronic conditions when there is this too much inflammation. So, it must be very simple, apply light, reduce inflammation. But then there is just as much research, just as many clinical trials that show that low level light can enhance the natural immune system. Like in this case, against skin infection like these are very difficult drug-resistant infections. The same effect is observed with chronic infections. There is a lot of papers on when the low level laser therapy is used to enhance the suppressed immunity and fight off, in our specialty chronic infection. So which one it is? Does light increase inflammation? Does it reduce inflammation? So if you think about this mechanistically, it does make any sense. Then if you talk about, let's say, theory of magnetic fields with ultrasound, the controversy even larger. There are so many seemingly contradictory results. And actually, there was one paper that says by -- written by a very famous scientist, and he basically says, because we don't understand how it works, it cannot be so. It's just basically saying, like therapy cannot work because the experimental results doesn't make any sense. But why? Intelligence of the body is not in the picture. The majority of modern clinical research treats the body purely as a clockwork.
