In this episode of the Voice of coMra series, we explore the healing journey of Gladys Elizabeth Carreño, a meditation instructor from Chile. Gladys shares her experience with coMra therapy, which she has been using for nine years to address a chronic and debilitating condition.
Gladys, 79, has maintained good health throughout her life, but she faced significant challenges with her vision. Following cataract surgery, she began experiencing involuntary eye twitching that progressively worsened, eventually making it difficult to keep her eyes open. Despite consulting seven different specialists, including ophthalmologists and neurologists, she could not receive a clear diagnosis. Through her own research, she identified her condition as blepharospasm.
Medical professionals offered no permanent cure, suggesting only invasive treatments like Botox injections, which provided limited relief and carried side effects. Gladys also experimented with mechanical aids, such as an eye crutch, but found them impractical for daily life. Desperate for a solution, she explored alternative therapies, including acupuncture, without success.
Gladys was introduced to coMra therapy through a friend who connected her with Georg Beining. At the time, there was no established protocol for blepharospasm, so a personalized approach was developed. Gladys describes her experience with coMra as life-changing, noting that it provided the relief she had been seeking when conventional options failed.
